What Is a Masala Pulverizer?
"Masala Pulverizer" is one of the three equipment types Thanvi configures on the impact pulverizer calculator — a dedicated build for spice, grain, and pulse grinding. Here's what actually sets it apart, and the real sizes it's available in.
What a Masala Pulverizer Is Built For
A Masala Pulverizer is Thanvi's spice-focused equipment configuration — already in use on the homepage as an "Atta Chakki and Masala Grinder." It's built for the same food-grade materials covered in our materials guide: turmeric (haldi), dried chillies, ginger, garlic, and other spices, plus pulses and grains like besan, moong dal, and wheat flour. Every grinding chamber uses FSSAI-compliant Stainless Steel 304 lining, since the output is going into food, and grinds up to 300 mesh depending on the material.
How It Differs From the Standard and Air Separator Types
Thanvi's Standard and Air Separator pulverizer types both integrate a Whizzer Air Classifier, which separates out particles that haven't reached the target fineness and sends them back for re-grinding — useful for harder, more variable materials. A Masala Pulverizer doesn't use this air-classification stage, which is also why it's not paired with a rotary air lock valve add-on the way the other two types can be. What it shares with every Thanvi pulverizer: chilled-iron liner plates, drop-forged alloy steel hammers, a shaft-driven Automatic Rotary Feeder with built-in feed-speed control, and a cyclone dust-bag collection system.
Real Sizes: 2 HP to 75 HP
Masala Pulverizers are built in ten sizes across two build grades — ECO and Super — matched to your required output. A few reference points from the actual size chart:
| Chamber Size | Grade | Motor Power | Output (Kg/Hr) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 x 8 | ECO | 2 HP | 20–25 |
| 5 x 10 | ECO | 5 HP | 30–45 |
| 7 x 14 | Super | 15 HP | 80–100 |
| 12 x 24 | Super | 40 HP | 300–350 |
| 18 x 36 | Super | 75 HP | 800–900 |
That's the full spread — from a small 2 HP unit suited to a household or small masala business, up to a 75 HP unit for a high-volume spice mill. The calculator on our impact pulverizer page matches your required capacity to the right size automatically once you select Masala Pulverizer as the equipment type.
Raw Material With Mud or Soil? Add a Destoner First
Raw turmeric and similar unprocessed spices often carry mud, soil, or small stones from the field — grinding that straight into a Masala Pulverizer isn't ideal. For exactly this case, the calculator offers an optional Circular Screen Separator / Destoner as a pre-cleaning add-on alongside your Masala Pulverizer selection, so impurities are screened out before the material reaches the grinding chamber. If you're planning to blend the finished powder into a masala mix afterward, see our Ribbon Blender guide for how that step works.
