Which Materials Can an Impact Pulverizer Grind?
An impact pulverizer isn't a one-size machine — the right build depends heavily on what you're actually feeding it. Here's how material type shapes construction, mesh fineness, and the equipment configuration you should be asking for.
Spices and Food-Grade Powders
Turmeric (haldi), dried green chillies, ginger, garlic, onion, potato, and beetroot are commonly ground into fine powders for the spice and food-processing trade. Because these come into direct contact with something people will eat, the grinding chamber needs food-grade contact surfaces — Thanvi's pulverizers use FSSAI-compliant Stainless Steel 304 lining for exactly this reason. Pulses, Grains, and Related Agri-Produce
Besan (gram flour), moong dal, urad dal, chana dal, guar gum, tamarind seed (imli beej), soyabean, and wheat flour are typical pulse- and grain-based materials processed on impact pulverizers for the dal mill and flour trade. These generally grind cleaner and require less aggressive hammer wear than hard minerals, but the required mesh fineness still varies by end use — a coarser besan grind for one buyer, an ultra-fine flour for another.

Bauxite, kaolin clay (China clay), calcite, chromite, coal, gypsum, lime stone, mica chips, ocher, red oxides, soap stone, and similar minerals are considerably more abrasive than food or agri materials. Mesh Fineness Depends on the Material
